It's Good To Be Back Home... But Geez What Bad Karma and Press!
You'd have to live in a cave to not know that NC is getting a lot of bad press recently. Lynn and I made out 12-hour trek back to NC last week and while it was good to get back to our real home it was sad to see so much negative press about our state. I'm as "straight" as I95 in Florida but I do believe in folks having a choice of who they are and what makes them happy in their own pursuit of happiness. I'm not cancelling shows like many bigger acts, because frankly I have to eat... but I am sensitive to the fact that many folks are ashamed of how our government in Raleigh is representing those who pay the taxes that pay their salaries. Many of the folks I cherish and love are here in our home state and I'm happy to be back. I just wish this legislation had been better thought out and debated before hastily enacted. I'd make a terrible politician because my main platform would be is this better for the music in NC. That wouldn't make everyone happy either.
On To Happy News...
It's been a busy week or so in NC. Last week I was honored to provide the music for a cool, brisk outdoor wedding in Laurinburg, NC. Wednesday night kicked off my first public show in Mount Airy, NC at Old North State Winery. We had a great rowdy crowd that helped pump me up for a good show. Then last night I was at Full MOON Oyster Bar in Clemmons, NC for a fun show up on their cool little stage. It started out low key and laid back, as it usually does, but by 8:00 it was rocking in their. I had a lot of requests and as I always do, if I know the song I'll do it. Even if it's Freebird which I killed last night... sure wish I'd recorded that one. I appreciate all the friends, family and fans my music brings me close to. Many of you came out last night for my welcome back to NC show and it was so good to see so many of you there. As i make the rounds to all my local stomping places I know I'll get to see many more and I can't wait. Next week I'm booked at 2 private events, one in Winston-Salem and the other in Columbia, SC.
Keep an eye out of Facebook for updates to my schedule. If you haven't "Liked" my page there, I'd sure like it if you did. :-)
