Videos from the 2015 White Oak Mountain Music Festival
For everyone who came out to the White Oak Mountain Music Festival yesterday, either as a fan/friend, a fellow musician or someone working the stage and helping me out... I just want to say thank you. It was an honor to be on the stage with so many great musicians, especially Mr. Edwin McCain. I've always respected him, but my respect grew immensely last night. You see those of us who were not the headliner got to do our thing right on schedule.
The rains held off and we had hot but good weather. All of us got this great radio announcer introduction but about 15 minutes before Edwin was supposed to take the stage he simply walked up the mic and said, "I'm going to do all the songs you know first just in case the sky doesn't hold off". No announcer... no fanfare... just him and his band. Many of the crowd we had high-tailed it for their cars with the rain coming, but those of us who stayed were treated to an intimate show by someone who respects his fans, his band and his music. Having seen him perform live I already knew he was one of those guys who could nail his recorded songs perfectly in a live setting and he did. I wish the lightning had held off because I learned a lot in the 30 minutes he got to sing and play.
My time on the stage was awesome! Here's my first song, Keep It Simple and my second song, Just One Time. If you couldn't be there this is about the closest thing to it. Thanks for all the love and support. And Edwin, thanks for restoring my faith in there being good guys in this business. If we had it to do all over again you could have had my spot in the lineup and I would have been happy and honored to just listen and learn.
I'd also like to thank my son, Nathan, for taking the day off and spending it helping out and hanging out with his old man. As a parent you cherish time when you can just spend the day together doing something you both love. Nathan was a great help getting me on and off the stage.
